Hello Harry,

It’s nice to see this splendid hero honored here on your site (I’m a bit late to the scene, though)! Lt. Murphy wrote an account of his exploits in “Reminisces of the War of the Rebellion, and of the Mexican War”, a fine book I came across while researching Gen. Buford’s “twin aides”, Joseph O’Keeffe and Myles Keogh. Murphy devoted a paragraph to five officers he knew who had served in the Papal War; he called O’Keeffe “a thorough gentleman in every respect.”

Looking forward to meeting you and some other fine folks during the upcoming Bull Runnings tour!

Best regards,
Jessica Weatherbee
