It’s one of the three Native American names (along with Senedo and Sherando) believed by many to be the source of the word Shenandoah. It’s also the nom de blog of historian and author Robert H. Moore II. Cenantua’s Blog seems to focus on Civil War memory. He stays pretty much on that popular topic, and so I’ve added him to the blogroll to the right.

Hello! I’m Harry Smeltzer and welcome to Bull Runnings, where you'll find my digital history project on the First Battle of Bull Run which is organized under the Bull Run Resources section. I'll also post my thoughts on the processes behind the project and commentary on the campaign, but pretty much all things Civil War are fair game. You'll only find musings on my “real job” or my personal life when they relate to this project. My mother always told me "never discuss politics or religion in mixed company”, and that's sound advice where current events are concerned.
The Project

[…] The Civil War Blogosphere Posted on March 19, 2008 by cenantua I want to pause briefly this morning to say “thanks!” to those who have linked to this blog. By doing so, they inspire me to continue in this very interesting practice. Only a month old (as of 17 March), this blog was created as a project for my graduate course in hypertext theory. While the posts remain close to what I enjoy the most (Civil War history, of course), I greatly enjoy this new platform for historical expression (all-in-all, part of the point for my taking-on a second graduate degree with a focus on the potential that the Web offers). So, again, thanks go out to Kevin Levin at Civil War Memory, Brad Schulte at TOCWOC, all those at Civil Warriors, Harry Smeltzer at Bull Runnings, and Eric Wittenberg at Rantings of a Civil War Historian.
