Go here. Find out what a jerk I am, in a Usenet kind of way. They’re right – I never wrote a Varney review. I did post the Hood one though, right here.

Ted Savas

Here is a comment, Harry, by someone who claims to be Ted Savas, a publisher who somehow maintains success after success, but doesn’t know how to design a dust jacket. Of course, there is a difference between what we in the industry call first-cut or “placeholder” thumbs, and “final” versions, but many “smart” folks apparently can’t tell the difference and love to cast stones.

Makes me chuckle ever time.

If this where the evil publisher/author cabal is meeting? or is that down the hall? I get confused.

Is this the real Dave Powell or a Sears Dave Powell? I’d hate to approve a comment by someone simply CALLING themselves Dave Powell.

Oh well.

What can I say. I posted a link to the interview to give it wider exposure. I was surprised by the reaction, but it was what it was.

BTW, I was not disparaging Mr. Powell. I have never met him and in his comment on your site there was no link connected with his name. I was not sure if he was the author of the Chickamauga books, Volume 1 of which I have read and enjoyed, or someone else.

I was merely posting comments on the book by people who said that they had read it, or parts of it. My understanding is that many who were commenting on CWT said that they had not read it.

“Horace Porter” is a hoot! And he sounds familiar, too. For the record, there are I think only two books I’ve promised to review and never got around to – Varney’s and Longacre’s. I still hold out hope for Longacre.
