		<description><![CDATA[In 1860 was a 23 year old book keeper living in the 9th District of the 17th Ward. He served in Company A of the 69th NYSM before receiving a regular commission as a Lieutenant in the 4th US Infantry. He commanded Company F of this regiment at Antietam and Gettysburg. He became a brevet Major dating from 13th March 1865 and full Captain from 9th June 1865. He mustered out on 23rd September 1865.]]></description>
