During the twenty years I served in the Army, I was stationed for a time with the 10th Infantry at Ft Leonard Wood, MO. At the Regimental Ball there was a book covering the history of the unit till the late 19th century. Listed was the officers in the Regiment at the time of the Secession Crisis, and I was suprised to see that the commander of D company was CPT Bernard Bee. I let a out a yelp, and then tried to explain to all those there just who Bernard Bee was. It gave the older members of the Regiment something to brag about. If memory serves, he was wearing his old blue uniform at the time of the battle, since his new one was not ready when he left Charleston SC.
